I am proud to present our 2019 Annual Nursing Report. The highlight of 2019 was achieving our third Magnet Designation. As with Pathway to Excellence, this designation is the result of the hard work of our nursing staff and the entire organization that reflects excellent care for our patients, their families and our community. The stories in this report portray the care and expertise of our Carle nurses; what it takes to make us a Magnet organization for these past 10 years. We are proud of who we are and what we have accomplished, but recognize that it takes the entire healthcare team to achieve the outcomes highlighted in the pages of this report.

Providing care today is much different than it was just a few years ago. The acuity of our patients continues to increase, presenting new challenges every day. The care team at clinics, in the home, on the mobile clinic van and on days and nights at the hospital embrace these challenges and work together to find innovative and creative solutions as evidenced in the report.

As the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of Carle for the past 13 years, I am proud of each one of our nurses and the entire staff who work for those we serve. Nursing recognizes the importance of achieving national level outcomes and continues to implement best practices and new research. 2019 will be my last year as Carle CNO and I want to thank everyone for the amazing journey. I look forward to reading about the continued success of nursing and the organization in the Carle Nursing Annual Report for years to come.
